Our Team
Life's challenges don't follow a blueprint—and neither does our approach to psychological care. We understand that every person who walks through our doors carries their own unique story, shaped by distinct experiences and diverse cultural backgrounds. Like the diverse neighborhoods we serve, each individual requires care that fits their specific needs.
We are Modern Psychological Services, PLLC (MPS), a culturally-responsive, person-first private practice in New York City. We offer an array of evaluations and therapeutic treatment options because we know that individualized care matters. Whether you're navigating a complex evaluation or seeking therapeutic support, we create a space where expertise meets genuine human connection.
Ashley Campbell, Psy.D., HSPP
Founder & Clinical Director of MPS
Licensed Clinical and Forensic Psychologist
Health Service Provider in Psychologist
As the founder and clinical director of Modern Psychological Services, Dr. Ashley Campbell brings scientific precision and genuine warmth to every interaction. We believe that understanding the human mind requires both expertise and compassion—and Dr. Campbell embodies this as your neighborhood psychologist.
Her extensive training spans Psychology and Criminal Justice (Elon University), Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology (UNC-Chapel Hill), and Clinical Psychology with Forensic specialty (Albizu University). Dr. Campbell has worked across diverse settings—from medical centers and schools to courtrooms and community centers—and has been qualified as an expert witness in seven states.
What makes Dr. Campbell exceptional isn't just her credentials—it's her understanding that one size does NOT fit all. Whether conducting psychological assessments, providing crisis intervention, or offering therapeutic support, she meets people exactly where they are. Her culturally responsive, person-first approach recognizes that each client brings unique strengths and experiences.
At MPS, we've built our practice around this philosophy. Dr. Campbell also provides consultation and supervision services, strengthening our field by growing the next generation of culturally responsive clinicians. In New York City's bustling mental health landscape, she's created a space where professional excellence meets human understanding.
Tanika Masse, Psy.D.
Certified School Psychologist
We're proud to have Dr. Masse on our team—a NYS Certified School Psychologist and Postdoctoral Psychology Resident who brings both clinical expertise and real-world understanding to her practice. With her doctorate from Adelphi University, she specializes in evidence-based treatments for anxiety, depression, and trauma, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic approaches.
Dr. Masse's work extends beyond our office walls. As a practicing school psychologist, she advocates for students from kindergarten through 12th grade, conducting psychoeducational assessments that help people understand their unique learning profiles. Her research focuses on creating more inclusive spaces for people of color—work that deeply informs her therapeutic approach.
We value how Dr. Masse combines warmth with professional insight, offering culturally aware therapy that's tailored to each person's story. Whether you're navigating workplace challenges, family dynamics, or personal growth, she creates space for authentic connection and meaningful change.
Brittany Waddy, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Brittany Waddy brings over 15 years of experience helping children, adolescents, adults, and families move through anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, and difficult life transitions. We value her belief that therapy should be a space where you don't have to have everything figured out before you walk through the door, only a willingness to better understand yourself and move forward.
As a Black clinician, Brittany is passionate about making therapy approachable and culturally responsive, particularly for Black individuals and other historically marginalized communities. She recognizes that culture, identity, and lived experience shape how we experience mental health, and she integrates those truths into every session rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
When you work with Brittany, you can expect authenticity, empathy, and even appropriate humor. She meets you where you are, tailors evidence-based care to your life, and checks in regularly so therapy stays a space where you feel supported, challenged, and empowered to create meaningful change.
Courtney Oliver, LMSW
Licensed Master Social Worker
Courtney brings something special to our practice—the rare combination of honest reflection and culturally affirming care. As a Black Caribbean clinician who understands identity and marginalization firsthand, she creates space where clients feel genuinely seen and supported in their full humanity.
We appreciate how Courtney works collaboratively with preteens, teens, and adults who are making sense of their emotions, relationships, or sense of belonging. Her approach blends person-centered therapy with cognitive behavioral tools and trauma-informed care, always shaped by your needs and pace.
One size does NOT fit all—Courtney embodies this principle. Whether you're unpacking past experiences, navigating life transitions, or simply need space to breathe and reflect, she shows up with warmth, care, and directness that helps you reconnect with your truth and move forward with clarity.
Duha Ess, LMSW, CASAC-MC
Licensed Master Social Worker
Master Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor
We’re proud to have Duha on our team, a Licensed Master Social Worker and Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor who brings radical empathy and clinical rigor to her work with clients navigating trauma, substance use, emotional distress, and the everyday challenges of neurodivergent life. We value her belief that you are not just a diagnosis. You are the expert on your own life, and your lived experience guides every session.
Duha’s work begins with a comprehensive assessment that looks beyond symptoms to the context of your life and your goals for change. She tailors evidence-based care, including CBT, DBT, and ACT, to your neurodivergent, cultural, and personal needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
When you work with Duha, you can expect compassion, candor, and a non-judgmental space. She builds trust first, reviews progress with you regularly, and welcomes honest feedback on what is and isn’t working, so therapy stays a space where you feel heard, in control of the pace, and empowered to create lasting change.
